
At 8:07 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) received a 9-1-1 call reporting a house fire occurring on Range Road 3065 in the Municipality of Corman Park. Two engines, one brush truck, one rescue truck, 1 tanker and one battalion chief were dispatched.
Upon arriving, fire crews observed a fire on the exterior of the home. All occupants were standing outside. The fire crew began extinguishing the flames and a search of the interior was conducted. Fire suppression continued and the fire was brought under control at 8:24 pm. No injuries occurred at the incident.
The fire cause is unknown at this time. RCMP attended and fire crews turned the scene over to the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS). The fire damage is estimated at $20,000.
At 8:59 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 SFD received a 9-1-1 call reporting a house fire occurring on the 100 block of Kenderdine Road. Five engines, one ladder truck, one rescue truck, one battalion chief and a support vehicle were dispatched.
Upon arriving, fire crews identified an attached garage totally involved with two vehicles also on fire outside the home. The occupants with pets had safely exited the home and were standing outside after a passerby banged on the house to alert them to the fire occurring. Fire crews began extinguishing the flames and a search of the interior was conducted with no one found within the residence. Fire suppression continued with fire damage extending to the two neighboring homes. Fire crews continued aggressive fire suppression tactics and the fire was brought under control at 12:04 a.m.
A fire investigator was called to determine the cause and origin of the fire. The fire was determined to be accidental, having started within the confines of the garage of the home where the fire originated. The cause of the fire was attributed to improper disposal of smoking material. The fire investigator also discovered that the smoke alarms were not operable inside the home where the fire originated. No injuries occurred at the incident. The fire damage is estimated at $780,000.
At 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 SFD received a 9-1-1 call reporting a garage fire in progress on the 1200 block of 15th Street East. Three engines, one rescue truck, one ladder truck and a battalion chief were dispatched.
Upon arriving, fire crews identified that a fire was occurring at the detached garage located within the alley. No one was within the structure. Fire crews extinguished the flames which were on the exterior of the building and the fire was quickly brought under control at 3:34 a.m.
SFD’s fire investigator was called to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Upon completion of the fire scene examination, the cause was determined to be suspicious. SPS was notified.
No injuries occurred at the incident. The fire damage is estimated at $40,000.
