It’s time to begin preparing for a new season of exciting U18AAA hockey action.

A total of 71 players from across the province hit the ice as the Warman Wildcats held their fall camp at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex from August 22 to August 24.

The players were divided into four teams and battled in 45 minute games over the first two days.

The camp concluded with a highly competitive Black & Gold Game on Thursday, August 24. Team Black pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker and were able to tie the game 4-4 with 5.7 seconds left.

The Wildcats’ core of returning players is bolstered with some very exciting rookies recruited for the upcoming season.

These include three players from the Rink Hockey Academy U16 Prep Program that won the Canadian Sport School Hockey League Championship last spring.

Connor Bear (Ochapawace) was one of the Rink Hockey League’s top players, netting 21 goals and 47 points in 29 games played. He was also a key player on the silver medal-winning Team Saskatchewan at the Canada Winter Games. The Calgary Hitmen draft pick is a cousin of NHL’er Ethan Bear.

Teammate Hudson Brehaut (Whitewood) is a gifted offensive forward, scoring 22 goals and adding 22 assists for the Rink Academy team.

Lanigan’s Kaleb Dewar rounded out the Saskatchewan component on that championship team.

Warman’s Trey Markus, Martensville’s Cohen Klassen and Corman Park’s Dylan Danyluk are some of the area players looking to have a big impact in the league in the upcoming season.

The first chance to see this year’s U18AAA team in game action is 6:00 p.m. September 10 at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex. This will be a pre-season contest against the Prince Albert Mintos.
