Fire bans are currently in effect in the RM of Corman Park and the RM of Vanscoy.
The fire bans were put in place because of extremely dry conditions.
The RM of Vanscoy implemented a complete fire ban effective Saturday, April 29; while the RM of Corman Park implemented one on Monday morning, May 1.
The fire bans apply only to land within the RM boundaries and do not apply to incorporated urban villages, towns and cities. The fire bans will remain in effect until further notice.
A notice posted on the RM of Corman Park website stated:
“All fires within the R.M. are banned. This requires all outdoor fires presently burning to be extinguished and the lighting of any outdoor fires is prohibited. This ban includes fire pits, burning barrels, controlled burns, and fireworks, with the only exceptions being internal household fireplaces and gas-fueled equipment such as a propane barbecue or propane fire pit.”
The RM of Vanscoy posted a notice on its website stating the ban included “burning barrels, incinerators, fire pits, campfires, fireworks of any type, or Chinese lanterns.”
Residents of other RMs are requested to check for updates regarding fire bans on their RM websites.
