Incidents of note

On March 30, 2023, at 9:00 p.m., CPPS conducted a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Marquis Drive. Police spoke to the lone female occupant who admitted to having a suspended driver’s license, and was later learned was prohibited from operating a conveyance Canada-wide from Prince Albert Police Service. She was arrested for Driving While Prohibited and was released on an Appearance Notice with conditions to attend Provincial Court in Saskatoon at a later date.

On March 30 at 4:00 p.m., at the intersection of Melville Street and Portage Ave in Saskatoon, CPPS came upon an intoxicated male who was in the intersection blocking traffic, attempting to operate a bicycle.

He was subsequently placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place.

Saskatoon Police Service was advised of the arrest within their jurisdiction and the CPPS Officer was instructed to transport the male to detention to be lodged in cells until sober.

On March 29 at 2:48 a.m., police received a call from the Travel Inn south of Saskatoon, stating that there was a white truck in the parking lots that had been there since around 9:30 pm. An employee saw people hauling items from this truck into another vehicle and then drove off leaving the white truck in the parking lot. The vehicle was run on CPIC and came back stolen out of Saskatoon Police Service earlier in the morning on March 28, 2023. No suspects were located.

On April 2, at 9:50 p.m., CPPS was made aware of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 12 and Township Road 400. Police found a vehicle on its roof on the east side of Highway 12 in the ditch. The driver was out of the vehicle with a bystander that stopped to check on the rollover. The driver was uninjured in the accident and denied EMS. RCMP handled the accident from this point.

On April 2 at 5:30 p.m., CPPS received a call for a single vehicle rollover on Highway 16 at Range Road 3064/3065. CPPS relayed this information to Warman RCMP members as CPPS was on the other side of the city. DOCC then aired out the same single vehicle rollover but stated it was on Highway 14.

CPPS arrived on scene at Highway 14 and RR 3064. Saskatoon Fire Department and Medavie were already on scene with the patients in the back of the ambulance. The subject vehicle was in the ditch on its roof.

The driver provided a statement indicating he felt his vehicle tires grab the slush on the road and he began to lose control of his vehicle, hitting the ditch, and rolling at least once.  The passenger of the vehicle was unharmed in the accident but went to the hospital with driver. Injuries were not life threatening.

On April 1 at approximately 7:00 a.m, DOCC dispatched a call of a white Dodge Ram 1500 that was stolen from 1775 Grasswood Road between 3:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.. Saskatoon Police Service advised that there was a truck abandoned on Lorne Ave and Melville Street near the edge of Corman Park, that was matching the description. CPPS attended the location and confirmed it was the vehicle that was stolen, observed the vehicle with severe damage to the right side, that it appeared to have hit a curb and a sign. The truck was not drivable. There were multiple empty alcohol containers near the vehicle. Saskatoon Police Service was informed of the damage to a street sign on scene.

On April 5 at 12:10 a.m. CPPS observed vehicle driving southbound on Highway 11 near Township Road 392 at 144 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and alcohol was observed in the back seat and a roadside demand was made, resulting in a pass. SGI inquiry indicated he is an Unauthorized Driver and has not had a valid license in the last five years. The driver was served a speeding and drive while disqualified ticket, and the vehicle was impounded.
