Warman’s Cody Kroszer pressures Rosthern’s Jesse Swanson

In the highly competitive Twin Rivers Hockey League the Warman Senior Wildcats  started the New Year  with a pair of  wins. 

On Saturday, January 8  they defeated the league leading Rosthern Wheatkings 6-4 in a game played at the Legends Centre in Warman. On Sunday the team travelled to Allan and came away with another 6-4 win.

In the Saturday tilt the visiting Wheatkings got off to a fast start and took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Brett Blatz and Michael Epp. Cody Kroszer responded for the Wildcats with a first period marker.

In the second period Warman took their first lead on goals by Lucas Seesequasis and Tylin Cameron. Jesse Swanson tied the game for Rosthern.

Warman regained the lead on goals by Darwin Morin and Brayden Anderson before the end of the period.Rosthern made the game close in the third period on a goal by Nathan Gardipy before Jordy Guillou sealed the win for Warman with a late goal.

Both goaltenders were very busy as Wheatkings Branden Duval made 38 saves and Warman’s Narhan Darcy  turned away 46 shots to earn the win.

In the game against the Allan Flames the home team took a one goal lead four times only to have Warman tie it up each time.

Scoring for Allan were Brody Scherer, Cam Brossart, Brodie Sender, and Jaden Shewchuk.

Warman had goals by Gabriel Gardipy, Tylin Cameron, and a pair by Brock Hounsell.

Warman then pulled away in the third period on goals by Brett Weiman and Gabriel Gardipy.

Wildcats’  goalie Chase Honan had 26 saves in the win.

The Wildcats have a bit of a break as their next home game is January 29 against Clavet at the Legends Centre.

They are curently sitting in third place with 19 points with eight wins and four losses plus three points for overtime losses.

Rosthern leads the league with 21 points from ten wins, two losses and one point from an overtime loss.
