The Corman Park Police Commission announced on Tuesday, December 7 that Inspector Ron Chomyn has been appointed as Police Chief, effective January 4, 2022.
Chomyn takes over from Sgt. John Garnet, who has been acting Police Chief since May, 2021.
In a news release, the Corman Park Police Commission said Chomyn is a proven leader with more than 38 years of experience in policing.
In his most recent position as Inspector with the Canadian Pacific Police Service, Chomyn was a ‘use of force’ inspector and provided training to officers throughout Canada and the United States. Early in his career, Chomyn served with the Saskatoon Police Service and while there developed the Canine Training Program.
“We value our police service and the work they do each day to keep our municipality safe,” said Corman Park Police Commission Chair Judy Harwood. “We are pleased that Ron has accepted the position of Police Chief and look forward to his leadership.”
Chomyn is looking forward to being Corman Park’s Police Chief.
“I am excited for the opportunity to lead the Corman Park Police Service,” said Chomyn. “My focus will be to develop a strong policing team to better serve the residents of Corman Park, as well as ensuring we work well with our municipal, provincial and federal counterparts in the region.”
Chomyn currently resides in the City of Warman with his wife Laura and two daughters, McKinley and Hayden.
