Voting in the first, province-wide, Provincial Métis Youth Council (PMYC) presidential election for Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) takes place this week across Saskatchewan.

There are 5,200 young Métis citizens, between the ages of 16 and 29, eligible to participate in the online election. The nomination process saw three individuals put their names forward to serve as PMYC President at the Provincial Métis Council (PMC) and across the country. Cody Demerais, Autumn LaRose-Smith, and Jade Rooney are all looking to be elected President.

The PMYC President is an advocate for all Métis youth in the province, working with the 12 Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) regions in Saskatchewan. As PMYC President, they will promote Métis youth at all levels of government and campaign for programs and opportunities that provide incentives and benefits for youth.

Online advance voting for PMYC President begins on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 7 am, and continues through Election Day, Saturday, November 6, 2021, until 7 pm. To vote, eligible citizens must go to the mnselection.ca website.

The PMYC President is a part of the Métis Nation Government in Saskatchewan. MN–S eagerly awaits the outcome of the vote November 6, 2021, and will welcome the newly elected at the Fall session of the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly (MNLA) at the end of the month.
