A 27-year-old Saskatoon man is in custody, facing a number of charges following an incident in which the driver of a stolen truck evaded police.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., October 25, 2021, a Canine Officer witnessed a Ford F250 at Idylwyld Drive North and Circle Drive. The vehicle matched the description of one that had been reported stolen. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop however the suspect refused to stop and continued to travel on Airport Drive. Patrol Officers were able to disengage as the Air Support Unit monitored the vehicle from the air. However, the suspect continued to drive in a dangerous manner before hitting a tire deflation device and eventually becoming stuck in a ditch in the 3800 block of Idylwyld Drive North. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by a member of the Canine Unit. Officers searching the stolen vehicle located a shotgun and rifle, 14.78 grams of methamphetamine and a scale, along with numerous stolen household items.

The 27 year old man is now facing charges of; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Driving While Prohibited and six firearms offenses.

The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
