The Government of Saskatchewan recently announced that COVID-19 ‘at home’ self-testing kits would be distributed to the general public this week and available for pickup at participating fire halls, local chambers of commerce, and SHA testing and assessment centres.
The Saskatoon Fire Department Fire Halls are not a participating pickup location. For safety reasons, Saskatoon’s Fire Halls have not been open to the public since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020. The public are asked to not go to or call a Fire Hall seeking testing kits.
As of Monday morning, October 18, the Warman fire hall does not have any self-test kits, according to Warman Fire Chief Russ Austin.
Martensville Deputy Fire Chief Dean Brooman also confirmed that the Martensville fire hall does not have any test kits available as of Monday, October 18.
Both the Warman and Martensville fire halls may be distribution locations in the near future, but the logistics of distributing the kits are not yet finalized. Further information on when the kits will be available will be posted when it becomes available.
A list of participating pickup locations will soon be available at Saskatchewan.ca/covid-19. The Government of Saskatchewan has indicated this list will be updated as kits are delivered and available, and as new sites participate.
