Myles Johnson of Martensville earned a silver medal at the 2021 Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) provincial golf championship in Rosthern last weekend.

Johnson recorded a score of 73 on Friday, September 24 and 76 on Saturday, September 25  for a total of 149 on the tournament.

Johnson finished seven strokes back of the leader, Ryan Chernoff of Estevan, who shot an amazing 68 on the second day of the tournament to end up with a final score of 142 for the weekend.

Jagger Bitz of Warman placed seventh in the tourament with a final score of 156, while colleague Dane Giesbrecht, also of Warman, was ninth with a final score of 158.

Carter Pelletier of Warman was 20th with a final score of 167 amd Gavin Martens of Rosthern was 42nd with a final score of 193.

The Central Valley team, which includes schools in the Prairie Spirit School Division, placed second overall in the male team category, recording a total score of 439. The South East team won the category with a combined total of 425 over the two day event.

Ella Kozak of Yorkton Sacred Heart High School won the female division with a two-day total score of 148. Sarah Henderson of Saskatoon Holy Cross High School was second with a score of 170.

Central Valley did not have a female team in the tournament.

A total of 48 golfers competed in the male division of the provincial tournament. There were 35 athletes entered in the female division.
