The RMs of Corman Park, Vanscoy, Dundurn, Eagle Creek and Montrose have implemented fire bans.
The RM of Corman Park put its latest fire ban, the third so far this summer, in place on Sunday, August 15.
In a statement posted on the Corman Park official website, municipal officials stated the fire ban was implemented at the request of area fire chiefs due to ongoing dry conditions and high temperatures.
“The ban will be put in place immediately, and does not allow for any open flame fires to be lit within the RM of Corman Park until such time that the ban is lifted,” stated the notice on the website.
Under the fire ban, all fires within the RM of Corman Park are prohibited. This requires all outdoor fires presently burning be extinguished and the lighting of any outdoor fires is prohibited. This ban includes fire pits, burning barrels, controlled burns, and fireworks, with the only exceptions being internal household fire places and gas fueled equipment such as a propane barbecue or propane fire pit.
The Corman Park fire ban does not include most urban municipalities located within the RM. However, the Town of Langham has an ongoing a fire ban in place since June 30, according to the Langham municipal website.
The RM of Vanscoy has also implemented a full fire ban. A notice on the RM of Vanscoy website states: “Due to the extremely high temperatures and accompanying wind, the RM of Vanscoy has instituted a complete fire ban effective immediately. This includes all open flame, including burning barrels, fire pits, controlled burns, and fireworks. Propane-driven fires are still allowed. The fire ban excludes the Town of Delisle and Village of Vanscoy, as well as the Pike Lake Provincial Park.
