Rory Favel, 21, of North Batttleford is facing a number of charges, including impaired driving and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle as a result of a three-vehicle collision Monday, July 26 on Highway 16 three kilometers east of Maidstone.

Warman RCMP say Favel was allegedly driving the wrong way on the divided highway at a high rate of speed through a construction zone. He was weaving in and out of traffic and almost hitting highway workers.

RCMP say the investigation indicated the car Favel was operating struck a second car and sideswiped a third car before it entered the ditch and rolled. One of the vehicles hit by Favel’s car rolled into the ditch and was severely damaged.

Favel was transported to hospital. No life-threatening injuries were reported to anyone involved in the collision.

Borden Fire Department conducted traffic control and a Saskatchewan RCMP traffic analyst attended.

The highway remained open throughout the investigation.

As a result of the RCMP investigation, Favel is slated to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Wednesday, September 21 to face a total of five charges, including:

1) Operate a conveyance while ability to operate is impaired;

2) Operate a conveyance having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding eighty milligrams of alcohol;

3) Dangerous operation of motor vehicle;

4) Prohibited driving;

5) Breach of Probation.
