A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital and may be facing charges after allegedly speeding through a construction zone on Highway 16 northwest of Saskatoon.

On Monday, July 26, at approximately 2 p.m., Warman RCMP responded to the report of a red car, on Highway 16, three kilometres east of Maymont, driving in the wrong way through a construction zone at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic and almost hitting highway workers.

RCMP say preliminary results of the investigation indicate the red car struck a second red car and sideswiped a third black car before it entered the ditch and rolled. The second red car rolled into the ditch and was severely damaged.

The 21-year-old male driver of the first red car was transported to hospital. No life-threatening injuries were reported to anyone involved in the collision.

Borden Fire Department conducted traffic control and a Saskatchewan RCMP traffic analyst attended.

The highway remained open throughout the investigation.

Police investigation is ongoing.
