During the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 15, Corman Park Police observed a speeding motorcycle driving south on Wanuskewin Road while swerving within its driving lane. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver presented with slurred speech, red eyes and admitted to consuming alcohol. The driver provided a sample of his breath into the approved screening device which resulted in a “FAIL”. The driver was arrested, transported to Martensville and provided two samples of his breath with readings of 100 mgs% and 100 mgs%. The driver was released with a future court date.

Corman Park Police send their thoughts and prayers to RCMP Constable Shelby Patton’s family and friends, the RCMP Indian Head Detachment and fellow police officers. Constable Patton of the Indian Head RCMP detachment was killed while on duty  during a traffic stop on Saturday, June 12. Two suspects have since been arrested and are currently facing manslaughter charges in connection with Constable Patton’s death.

Around midnight on June 10 a Corman Park Police patrol officer observed a north bound vehicle on Highway 12 north of Martensville travelling well below the posted speed limit. The CPPS officer executed a traffic stop on Township Road 395 for a sobriety check on the driver.

A strong odour of cannabis along with beverage alcohol was detected coming from the driver. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and smoking cannabis earlier in the night. The driver refused to provide a sample into an ASD and was arrested for refusal. A search of the vehicle turned up an empty alcoholic beverage container and a quantity of cannabis was seized. The driver was transported to the Warman RCMP Detachment for processing and has since been released with a future court date. The vehicle has been impounded for 60 days and the driver’s license has been suspended. The driver was also issued a ticket for possession of cannabis in a vehicle.

During the night of June 3,  Corman Park Police received a complaint of an impaired motorcycle driver going north on Hwy 11.

Corman Park Police and Saskatoon RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcycle and a brief pursuit was initiated. Due to public safety, the pursuit was terminated.

A few minutes later the motorcycle was located stuck in traffic on College Drive and the driver refused to get off the motorcycle. After a brief struggle, the driver pushed the officer and uttered a threat towards the officer. A CEW (taser) was pointed at the driver and was arrested without further incident.

The driver was charged with flight from police, impaired operation, refusal, resist arrest, utter threat to cause bodily harm and a ticket for failing to wear a helmet properly.
