Here is the occurrence summary for April 12 – 19.
On April 13 at 9:20 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a white, Ford F-350 truck, westbound on Highway 16 at Beam Road. The vehicle was observed driving erratically and at one point backed up in an intersection controlled by traffic lights. Police stopped the vehicle on Dividend Road in the Biz Hub Industrial Park and spoke with the driver, a 40-year-old male resident of Kindersley.
Police could smell alcohol on the man’s breath and his speech was slurred. He was read a breath demand and provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of .19 and .17 mgs, more than double the legal limit. The man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded and he was later released on charges of operating a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol equal to or exceeding the legal limit.
On April 14 at 8:00 p.m. police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver eastbound on Highway 16 near Lutheran Road in the RM of Corman Park. Corman Park Police attended in the area and contacted the complainant, who advised that they had followed the vehicle into the City of Saskatoon. Police located the vehicle at Avenue C and 47th Street and conducted a vehicle stop on the grey PT Cruiser. The driver, a 32- year-old male resident of Saskatoon, admitted to consuming two cups of Vodka before driving.
The man was read a breath demand and he supplied a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a result of FAIL. The man was arrested and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two samples of breath at .24 mgs, triple the legal limit. The man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded and he was released on charges of operating a conveyance while impaired and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol equal to or exceeding the legal limit.
On April 17 at 2:27 p.m. police received a complaint of a black Dodge Caravan driving erratically on Highway 16, west of Saskatoon, in an eastbound direction. The complainant advised that the vehicle was swerving on the highway and the vehicle’s speed was inconsistent. At 2:31 p.m. Corman Park Police located the vehicle on Highway 16 near Beam Road. The vehicle was being driven by a man and there was a female passenger.
Police stopped the vehicle and when they did the man attempted to leave the driver’s seat and get into the rear seat of the vehicle. Police spoke with the man, a 37-year-old resident of Cochin, SK, and he advised that he had been drinking and that he was in no condition to drive. Police observed open alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was read a breath demand and supplied a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which resulted in a reading of FAIL. The driver was arrested and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples measured at .13 mgs. The female passenger, a 31-year-old resident of Cando, SK, was found to be at large on a probation order with a condition not to consume alcohol. It was evident the woman had consumed alcohol and she was arrested. The driver was later released on charges of impaired driving and driving while prohibited. The passenger was released on a charge of breaching a probation order.
On April 17 at 11:22 p.m. Corman Park Police were monitoring traffic on Highway 7 near Highway 60 in the RM of Corman Park. While police were stopped in an approach they observed a truck stop nearby in a pull-up lane and two people got out and urinated on the side of the highway. Police initiated a traffic stop on the truck and spoke with the driver, a 31-year-old male resident of Saskatoon. The man admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and displayed symptoms of impairment from alcohol consumption such as glossy red eyes and slurred speech.
The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of .12 and .11 mgs. The man was later released on charges of impaired operation of a conveyance and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol equal to or exceeding .08mgs. His driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded.
