Motorists in the Saskatoon region are advised to use extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel, Highway conditions are deteriorating rapidly as an Alberta clipper bringing a late winter storm barrels through the area on Monday, March 29.
High winds, freezing rain and snow are creating near-whiteout conditions on roads. Snowplow crews are currently deployed across the region.
The provincial Highway Hotline lists all highways in western Saskatchewan as extremely hazardous.
The storm is expected to worse through the day, but winds should moderate later tonight as the system continues to track eastward into Manitoba.
