On March 17 at 1:25 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a grey Chev Silverado speeding westbound on Highway 16 at Lutheran Road at 144 km/h in the 110 km/h zone. Police stopped the vehicle, which displayed Alberta plates, and spoke with the driver, a 23-year-old female resident of Edmonton. The woman identified herself with a driver’s licence at which time it was revealed by police that she was under a court imposed curfew order not to be outside of her Edmonton residence after 11:00 p.m. Police arrested the woman for breaching her court order. Police noted the odour of alcohol on the woman’s breath and read the woman a breath demand, to which she complied. The woman provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL. The woman was then taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where she provided breath samples at .11 and .10 mgs. The woman was held in custody for a short while and later released on charges of speeding, breaching a court order and impaired driving. Her vehicle was impounded and her licence suspended.
On March 17 at 11:42 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a grey Infiniti G37 idling on the side of the road near Township Road 393 and Range Road 3050. Police stopped to check on the occupants. There were three people in the vehicle, the driver, a 21-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, and two friends. The driver admitted to police that he had consumed one alcoholic beverage prior to driving, he then changed that answer to a few and then to four. Police observed an open beverage container behind the driver’s seat. The driver was read a breath demand, to which he complied. The man supplied a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of .19 mgs, more than double the legal limit. The man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded and he was released on charges of impaired driving and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol equal to or greater than .08 mgs.
On March 18 at 11:20 p.m. Corman Park Police were on patrol in the area of Highway 12 and Lutheran Road when they observed a white Chevrolet Suburban vehicle having trouble maintaining its lane. As police gained on the vehicle it pulled to the side of the road and stopped. Police stopped behind the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 32-year-old male resident of Martensville. The man advised that he was having mechanical issues with the vehicle and had pulled over to allow other vehicles to pass. The man admitted to recent alcohol consumption and was read a breath demand, to which he complied. The man supplied a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of .10 and .09 mgs. The man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded and he was released on charges of impaired driving and operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol equal to or greater than .08 mgs.
On March 20 at 11:00 p.m. Corman Park Police were alerted to a call that the Saskatoon Police Service had attempted to stop a suspected impaired driver near Idylwyld Dr. and 25th Street in Saskatoon, but the suspect had failed to stop for police and due to the risk, police had discontinued their pursuit. Corman Park Police situated at the northern city limits near Idylwyld Dr. and 71st Street. A few minutes later they observed a vehicle matching the suspect description pass by them, a red Ford Contour. The vehicle was followed and noted to be traveling at 70 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. The vehicle was also weaving and swerving across lanes. The vehicle brake lights came repeatedly on for no reason. Police activated emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle on Highway 11 near Wanuskewin Road. A lone male was found in the vehicle. The man, a 44-year-old male resident of the One Arrow First Nation, exhibited numerous signs of impairment from alcohol and was arrested for impaired driving. The man was taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he refused to provide breath samples. The accused was then turned over to the custody of the Saskatoon Police Service. The man faces charges of impaired driving, refusing a breath test, flight from police, dangerous driving, and driving while prohibited. He was also at large on a warrant from the Wakaw RCMP for impaired driving and failing to appear in court. He was held in custody to face a bail hearing.
