The following is the occurrence summary for March 5 – 15.
On March 5 at 11:00 p.m. Corman Park Police received a complaint of a noisy party at a residence on Cherry Lane in Riverside Estates, south of Saskatoon. Police attended at the residence and observed a party inside the house with 20 to 30 occupants.
Police spoke with the person in charge of the house, a 34-year-old male resident of Calgary, who advised that he had rented the house and was responsible for organizing the party. The man was instructed to disperse the group as it was in violation of the Public Health Order. The man was issued a $2800 summons for violating the number of people allowed at a private indoor gathering.
On March 10 at 3:45 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a Ford Escape SUV in a field near Highway 5 and Range Road 3043 east of Saskatoon. There were two men in the vehicle. One of the men got out of the vehicle and advised that they were stuck and requested police assistance. Police questioned the man about alcohol consumption, which he denied.
Police read the man a mandatory breath demand and he provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving. The passenger was questioned and confirmed that the other man was driving when they hit the ditch. An open bottle of liquor was observed by police.
It was learned that the driver had a class 7 learners licence and that the passenger was not licenced. The driver was taken to the Saskatoon Police Headquarters where he provided samples of breath at .18 and .16 mgs, more than double the legal limit.
The man was later released on charges of impaired driving, operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol in excess of the legal limit and operating on a class 7 licence without a qualified driver providing instruction. The vehicle was impounded. The passenger was issued a ticket for having open alcohol in a vehicle.
On March 10 at 11:45 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Township Road 380. The vehicle pulled off of the roadway into a private driveway and waited for police to go by. The vehicle then pulled back on to Township Road 380 and started heading eastbound. Police turned around and followed the vehicle as it turned southbound on Range Road 3083.
The vehicle then turned into another private driveway. As police passed by they observed a lone subject exit the vehicle. Police waited for a short while at a nearby intersection and again observed the vehicle pull back out onto the roadway and proceed southbound on Range Road 3083.
Police attempted to catch up to the vehicle and by the time they did the vehicle, a Kia Sorrento, was stopped and a lone male was standing outside of the vehicle at the side of the road smoking a cigarette. Police questioned the man and he advised that he was with other people who were with him but had got out of the vehicle and were now gone.
Police determined the man had been drinking and that he was actually alone and had been driving the vehicle. Police read the man, a 32-year-old male resident of Asquith, a breath demand. The man provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL.
The man was taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two samples of breath at .08 mgs. The man was released on charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level that equals or exceeds .08 mgs. The vehicle was impounded.
On March 10 at 11:58 p.m. Corman Park Police learned of a report of a suspicious white Kia traveling towards Saskatoon from the Whitecap First Nation along Highway 219. Police located the vehicle and observed it to be swerving slightly within its lane.
The vehicle was stopped by police and the driver, a 28-year-old male resident of the Whitecap-Dakota First Nation, admitted to some alcohol consumption prior to driving. The man was read a breath demand and supplied a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of FAIL.
The man was arrested and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of .26 and .25 mgs, more than triple the legal limit
The man was not a licenced driver. The vehicle was impounded. The man was later released on charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level that equals or exceeds .08 mgs. and driving without a licence.
