Charlotte Goertzen is stepping down as the Mayor of Osler effective March 12, due to personal reasons.

Goertzen stated through social media that: “we decided to sell our home in order to downsize only to realize that there is really no inventory of real estate in Osler. We decided to fast track our five-year plan of relocating to Costa Rica. We hope to return each summer and work with the mission field associated with our church.” We’ve liquidated and are moving into a Warman rental unit until such a time as we can immigrate.”

Goertzen was elected November 9, 2020 after defeating incumbent Mayor Abe Quiring.

Once Goertzen’s resignation takes effect, Councillor Susan Braun will stepping in as interim mayor until the by-election, which is slated for May 12.
