When police pulled in behind the vehicle the driver got out and stood near the rear of the vehicle. A 29-year-old Saskatoon man was the only occupant of the vehicle and advised police that his vehicle had broken down and he was waiting for a tow truck. When questioned by police, the man denied any alcohol consumption but then changed his answer and advised he had a drink before driving. The man was read a breath demand, to which he complied, and supplied a sample of breath into a roadside screening device, which registered a reading of WARN. The man was issued a 60 day licence suspension because he has not held a driver’s licence in the last five years. He was also charged for driving without a licence.

On January 17 at 8:05 a.m. Corman Park Police and Saskatoon RCMP were alerted to a report of a break and enter on Parklands Road, near Grasswood Road and Highway 219. It was reported that two people had broken into the residence and were fighting with the male homeowner. The homeowner was hit with a hammer and stabbed twice with a knife in the upper torso. As police were rushing to the scene it was reported that the assailants had left the residence that was the subject of the original call and had gone to the house next door and had attempted force their way in when they were repelled by the occupant there. When the man who lived there attempted to force his door closed one of the suspects hit him in the head with a shovel. The man suffered a laceration to the head and one to his arm. The suspects then broke into a residence across the street from the first two houses. They attempted to steal a car but were unsuccessful. The suspects returned to the second house where they were able to steal a Toyota 4Runner, which they then used to flee the scene. A short while later, police were able to spot the suspects and a chase ensued which ended with the suspects abandoning the vehicle they were in and fleeing on foot in the Nutana neighbourhood of Saskatoon. Numerous Saskatoon Police Service resources were brought into the area. A Corman Park Police member spotted one of the suspects on a garage roof during a search of the neighbourhood and the suspect was arrested. His accomplice was located and arrested a short while later.
