The following is the occurrence summary for December 14 to 21.

On December 15 at 12:12 a.m., Corman Park Police observed a Buick Lucerne northbound on Highway 219 in the RM of Corman Park. Police observed the vehicle to be swerving and stopped the vehicle by activating emergency lights. While pulling to the right the vehicle came close to entering the ditch. Police spoke to the driver, a 56-year-old male resident of the Whitecap-Dakota First Nation, who admitted to consuming four beers prior to driving. The man displayed numerous signs of impairment from alcohol including slurred speech and unsteady balance. He was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of 180 mg%, more than double the legal limit. The man was charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol in excess of the legal limit while driving. His licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.

On December 16 at 10:45 p.m., Corman Park Police observed a blue Chevy Cruze travelling southbound on Range Road 3062 near Township Road 372. The vehicle was weaving within the lane and travelling slowly compared to other traffic. Police stopped the vehicle and identified a 50-year-old female Saskatoon resident as the driver. The woman displayed signs of impairment from alcohol consumption. Her breath had the odour of an alcoholic beverage, her eyes were red-rimmed and glossy and her speech was slurred. Although the woman denied any alcohol consumption, she was arrested for impaired driving. She was taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where she provided breath samples of 170 mg%, more than double the legal limit. The woman was held in custody for a short period of time and released on charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol in excess of the legal limit while driving. Her licence was suspended and her vehicle was impounded.

On December 18 at 9:35 p.m., Corman Park Police and the Warman and Martensville RCMP were working a holiday Checkstop on Highway 12 south of Martensville. A red Mazda 3 pulled up to the Checkstop with a male driver and one other occupant in the vehicle. The driver, a 21-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, had the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath but denied consuming any alcohol. The man was read a breath demand and he provided a sample into a roadside screening device which resulted in a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of 230 and 220 mg%, almost triple the legal limit. The man was held in custody for a short while before being released to a family member. The man was charged with impaired driving, excess blood alcohol and issued a driver’s licence suspension. His vehicle was also impounded.

On December 19 at 10:43 p.m., Corman Park Police were travelling eastbound on the Merrill School Road when a westbound vehicle passed by with a burned out headlight. Police performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as a 21-year-old male resident of Saskatoon. The driver admitted that he had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was read a breath demand. He provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device which provided a blood alcohol reading of 22 mg%. Because provincial law has a zero tolerance for alcohol on drivers 21 years of age or under, the man’s licence was suspended for 60 days and his vehicle was impounded for three days pursuant to provincial law.

On December 20  at 3:59 a.m. Corman Park Police were made aware of a vehicle that had been reported to be speeding on the Whitecap Dakota First Nation and had left the area northbound. At 4:14 a.m. Corman Park Police observed the vehicle, a black Dodge Grand Caravan, northbound on Highway 219 at Grasswood Road. Police initiated a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, a 31-year old male resident of Saskatoon. The man advised that he had consumed five beers before driving and was submitted to a roadside breath test which resulted in a FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving. He was taken to the Saskatoon Police Headquarters where he provided breath samples of 100 and 90 mg%, over the legal limit of 80 mg%. It was also revealed that the man’s driver’s licence was suspended and he was at large on an undertaking with conditions not to consume alcohol. The man was later released on charges of impaired driving, having a blood alcohol in excess of the legal limit, breach of undertaking and driving while suspended. His vehicle was impounded.

On December 20 at 11:15 p.m. Corman Park Police received a call for assistance from the Martensville RCMP who advised that they were attempting to stop a motorist on a snowmobile for dangerous driving and flight from police. Corman Park Police were in the vicinity of Martensville and attended to assist. Shortly afterwards Corman Park Police observed the snowmobile in a park area. Police pulled in front of the snowmobile when it exited the park and activated emergency lights. The operator of the snowmobile failed to stop for the police. With the assistance of the Saskatoon Police Air Support Unit police were able to observe the snowmobile to a residence in Martensville. Corman Park Police attended at the location and located the operator. He was arrested for Dangerous Driving, Flight from Police and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and turned over to the RCMP shortly afterwards.
