Warman Wildcats tracks down the puck during a Female U15 AA exhibition contest against the Prince Albert Lehner Electric Foxes

The Warman Female U15 AA Wildcats wrapped up exhibition play with a 6-4 win over the Prince Albert Lehner Electric Foxes on October 31 at the Warman Rodeo Diamond Arena.

Warman got off to a hot start after Hannah Eberle netted one off a rebound in the low slot, within the first minute of the opening period.

The Wildcats continued to apply pressure in front of the Prince Albert goalie and about a couple minutes after the Eberle goal, Alexie Palchinski found the back of the net to give Warman a 2-0 lead.

The Prince Albert players didn’t let that early Warman lead affect the team morale, and the Foxes scored two goals within a minute to tie the game.

That Prince Albert momentum was short lived and near the midway point of the period Warman regained the lead. Ella Stow, from the corner of the boards, made a nifty pass to find Brielle Minish in front of the net which led to the goal.

Warman continued to have success offensively in the first period, as Kolbee Ashe scored on a breakaway and Evan Hill’s wrist shot beat the goaltender, to give the Wildcats a 5-2 lead.

In the second period, Warman slowed down a bit offensively and Prince Albert scored to pull within two goals.

Early in the third frame, Warman regained its three goal lead after Palchinski scored her second goal of the matchup.

However, Warman started to get in to some penalty trouble, which led to Prince Albert gaining momentum.

With about four minutes remaining in the game, a Foxes player beat the Warman goalie top shelf to pull her team within two goals.

Still trailing by two, Prince Albert pulled the goalie at the 1:41 mark. But shortly after gaining that extra attacker, the Foxes had to put the goalie back in net after committing a penalty, which put a halt in the comeback attempt.

Warman had an outstanding offensive game which is a great feeling going in to the start of the season.

The Wildcats begin the regular season with a home-and-home against the Saskatoon Comet Impact.

The first game is scheduled to take place at the Legends Centre on November 7 with puck drop at 8:15 p.m. The second contest is slated for November 8 at the Archibald Arena and puck drop is at 2:15 p.m.
