The following is the occurrence summary for Oct 19-26.
On October 23 at 2:20 a.m. Corman Park Police observed a white GMC Sierra pick-up truck on Highway 16 at Range Road 3062 with a burned out headlight.
Police stopped the vehicle, which had three men inside, and interviewed the driver, who denied consuming any alcohol prior to driving. The driver, a 25-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, was read a mandatory breath demand and provided a sample into a roadside screening device which registered a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided breath samples of 90 and 80 mgs%. The man was held in custody for a short period of time and released on charges of impaired driving. His licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.
On October 24 at 2:45 p.m. Corman Park Police were stopped with traffic violator on Highway 5 near Range Road 3043 when a vehicle passed by the traffic stop that appeared to be an Ambulance with its lights on. As it went by the officer noticed the side of the vehicle had a construction company name painted on the side. The vehicle was clearly a former ambulance that had been converted but had not had the emergency red lights removed. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 56-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, who advised that he did not know the lights still worked. The man was issued a summons for driving a non-emergency vehicle equipped with emergency equipment. He is scheduled to make a court appearance in December.
On October 24 at 9:55 p.m. Corman Park Police observed an eastbound vehicle on Township Road 394 near Range Road 3050. The vehicle, a brown Chevrolet Equinox, was observed at a high rate of speed and was clocked on radar at 110 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The vehicle then sped through the stop sign at Range Road 3050 without even attempting to stop. Police stopped the vehicle west of Osler and the driver advised the officer that he did not have a driver’s licence. The driver, a 45-year-old male resident of Mont Nebo, admitted to consumption of alcohol and was read a breath demand. He provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device which registered a FAIL. The man was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two samples of breath at 200 mgs%, two and half times the legal limit. There were three passengers in the vehicle, two adult women and a child of two years of age who was not properly restrained in a child car seat. The driver faces charges of impaired driving, speeding, failing to obey a stop sign and driving with a child not properly restrained.
On October 25 at 10:30 a.m. Corman Park Police were alerted to a possible impaired driver northbound on Highway 11 that had been observed passing through the communities of Craik and Davidson. The vehicle had been reported to be driving erratically and had almost hit another vehicle in a gas station parking lot. At 11:36 a.m. Corman Park Police observed the vehicle, a red Ford F-150 pick-up truck, northbound on highway 11 at Tamke Road in the RM of Corman Park. Police observed the vehicle to be swerving and pulled it over north of Tamke Road. The driver stopped at the side of the road but when police approached the vehicle the driver sped off northbound on the highway. Another Corman Park Police unit deployed a spike belt north of Baker Road and successfully spiked the suspect vehicle tires. The vehicle came to a stop in the centre median a short distance away and the driver got out and attempted to flee on foot through the meridian and across the southbound lanes of traffic. Police caught up to the man and were able to arrest him. The driver, a 39- year-old male resident of Saskatoon, was brought to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where it was revealed the man was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for personation with intent and breaching a conditional sentence order. The man was held in custody and is now facing new charges of flight from police, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest, dangerous driving and breaching a conditional sentence order.
