Davyn Mason of the Warman Wildcats and Justice Montgrand of the Martensville Marauders battle for possession of the puck along the boards

The Warman Wildcats used a three-goal second period to earn a 3-2 win over the Martensville Marauders during a U18 AA exhibition matchup at Martensville Arena on October 25.

Martensville actually had a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play, but the momentum shifted in Warman’s favour during the middle frame.
Warman player Jared Burnett didn’t let a scoring opportunity go to waste as he had only the goaltender to beat after getting behind the Martensville defence, to tie up the game.

A minute after that goal, the Wildcats didn’t let up which led to another scoring opportunity.
Martensville goaltender Trey Kincade made the initial save but gave up a rebound and Benjamin Neudorf jumped on it from the side of the net and he put the puck past the goalie to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.

The Marauders were able to regroup and shift the momentum back in their favour to tie the game after Mason Engele netted one.
Just when it looked like the score was going to be tied going in the final frame, Martensville committed a penalty with less than 40 seconds remaining, and Nicholas Fiolleau netted a power-play goal to give Warman a 3-2 lead.

Martensville had a couple of scoring chances in the third to tie it up. The Marauders’ best chance came with 40 seconds left in the game when the team pulled the goaltender.
Martensville got a one-timer opportunity from point blank range but Warman goalie Brayden Schenstead made a huge stop.

Both teams are scheduled to meet up again for a rematch on October 31 at the Legends Centre in Warman for their final exhibition game.

The Wildcats open the season at the Legends Centre against the Saskatoon Riverkings on November 7.

Martensville also begins regular season play on November 7 and the Marauders are matched up against the North West Stars and the game is scheduled to be played at Martensville Arena.
