The following is the occurrence summary for Oct 12-19.

On October 12 at 9:50 p.m. Corman Park Police received a call of a possible impaired driver westbound on Highway 16 east of Saskatoon. The vehicle was reported to be a Silver Pontiac Grand Am. The complainant advised that they had observed the vehicle operating erratically. Police located the vehicle a short while later and stopped it outside of Saskatoon in the RM of Corman Park. The driver, a 21-year-old female resident of Saskatoon, denied alcohol consumption and advised that she had been adjusting her car stereo and that was probably the reason that the other motorist had complained about her driving. Police read the woman a mandatory breath demand and she provided a breath sample into a roadside screening device which gave a reading of WARN. Because the woman is 21 years old, she is considered a new driver in Saskatchewan regulations and as such her driver’s licence was suspended for 60 days. Her vehicle was also impounded. She was also given a summons for making a false statement to a police officer regarding her alcohol consumption denial.

On October 13 at 11:45 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a Ford Edge traveling southbound on Range Road 3055 north of Township Road 384. The vehicle was traveling on a summer road that did not afford an exit and was observed turning around and coming back. Police initiated a traffic stop and determined the vehicle was being driven by a 30-year-old Martensville woman who was alone in the vehicle. Police detected the odour of Cannabis in the vehicle. The woman was questioned about alcohol or drug consumption, which she denied. She advised that she was heading home from a friend’s place. Police read the woman a breath demand and she provided a sample which indicated a blood alcohol level of 49 mgs% on a roadside screening device. The provincial limit is 40 mgs%, at which point a driver’s licence suspension is initiated. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located Cannabis paraphernalia and an open bottle of Vodka that was half full under the driver’s seat. The woman’s licence was suspended, her vehicle impounded and she was issued tickets for making a false statement to a police officer and having open alcohol in a vehicle.

On October 14 at 3:00 p.m. Corman Park Police received an alert from the Watrous RCMP regarding a stolen vehicle that had fled their jurisdiction and was believed to be heading towards Saskatoon. A short while later Corman Park Police observed a red Chev Silverado 1500 that matched the description. RCMP were contacted and Corman Park Police and RCMP units were able to stop the vehicle on Highway 5 east of Saskatoon. A 46-year-old male resident of Stettler, Alberta was arrested for possession of stolen property. The man was taken to the RCMP detachment in Saskatoon for processing.

On October 14 at 6:50 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a grey, 2008 Ford F-150 truck towing a trailer northbound on Highway 672 near Township Road 374. The trailer had no taillights and subsequently police stopped the vehicle. During the traffic stop the driver, a 57-year-old male resident of Martensville, denied consuming any alcohol prior to driving and was read a mandatory breath demand. The man provided a breath sample that registered as a FAIL on the roadside screening device. He was arrested and taken to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where he provided two breath samples of 120 mgs%, one and a half times the legal limit. The man was held in custody for a short while prior to being released on an appearance notice for court on charges of impaired driving. His driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded. He was also issued tickets for having no taillights and being in possession of untaxed tobacco.

On October 14 at 7:15 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a white Dodge Ram pick-up being operated slowly on Highway 219. Police stopped the vehicle to check the driver’s sobriety. The driver identified himself verbally to police as he indicated he had forgotten his driver’s licence. Police checked the driver’s licence database and determined that the photograph on file did not match the driver. The man confessed he had used a false name and provided his real name. It was determined that the man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a driving offence and he was also criminally prohibited from driving. The man was arrested and his vehicle was impounded. The man was later released on charges of driving while prohibited and he was given a new court date for his traffic warrant.
