The following is the occurrence summary for the week of August 31 to September 8.
On September 5 Corman Park Police attended to a collision on Valley Road involving a moose. RCMP, Saskatoon Fire Dept and Medavie also attended. The male driver was not injured in the collision; however, his vehicle was not driveable. The Corman Park Police would like to remind all motorists to slow down and watch for wildlife, especially during dusk this time of year.
On September 4 Corman Park Police focused enforcement efforts on safety and compliance in the commercial vehicle field. Police stopped 24 commercial vehicles, 12 of which were deemed not fit for the road. Among other violations, officers found five commercial vehicles with brake system violations and four with load security violations. A total of five charges were issued including operate an unregistered vehicle, fail to produce trip inspection, exceed maximum allowable weight, and inadequate brake system. Officers will continue to focus on commercial vehicle safety in day to day operations to make the roads safer for all users.
On September 7 Corman Park Police observed a woman from Martensville driving an unregistered vehicle on Highway 305 near Highway 12. The woman was stopped just outside of Martensville and a mandatory screening test was conducting which resulted in a FAIL. The woman was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where she provided two samples of breath with readings of 150 and 150 mg%. She was later released with charges of impaired driving, driving with excess of 80 milligrams of alcohol and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
On September 7 at 9:10 p.m. Corman Park Police observed a Ford Fusion travelling southbound on Highway 219 near Baker Road at a high rate of speed. Once stopped, police noted the odour of beverage alcohol from the male driver. A roadside breath test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where he provided samples of breath at 200 and 210 mg%. The male was later released on charges of impaired driving and driving with excess of 80 milligrams of alcohol.
