The following is the occurrence summary for May 25 – June 1.
On May 25 at 8:21 p.m., Corman Park Police received a call of a vehicle fire at the intersection of Highways 7 and 60. Police attended and observed a 2008 Ford F-150 engulfed in flames. The 68-year-old female driver of the vehicle advised she was driving along the highway when smoke started to appear from under the dash of the vehicle. She was able to pull over and exit the vehicle just before the cab of the truck became fully engulfed in flame. The fire was extinguished by Saskatoon Fire personnel. The cause of the fire is unknown, however, it is believed to be mechanical in nature. The vehicle was a complete loss. No one was injured in the incident.
On May 30 at 12:45 a.m., a Corman Park Police officer observed a Nissan Versa eastbound on Township Road 362 in Furdale. The vehicle had been coming from the Chief Whitecap dog park well after the park had closed. Police stopped the vehicle to check for driver’s licence, registration, and driver sobriety. There were two people in the vehicle. The driver, a 36-year-old male resident of Saskatoon, advised police that he and his passenger had been at the dog park looking for his lost dog. Police observed open alcohol beverage containers in the vehicle and asked the driver about recent alcohol consumption. The man admitted to some recent drinking. Police read a breath sample demand, to which the man complied. He provided a sample in to a roadside screening device which registered a FAIL. The man was arrested and taken to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment for breath samples. The man provided two samples of breath at 130 and 120 mgs%. He was held in custody for a short period of time and later released on charges of impaired driving with a court date set for late July in Saskatoon. The passenger was issued a ticket for having open alcohol in a vehicle.
On May 30 at 6:56 p.m., Corman Park Police received a complaint of a gathering in excess of ten people at a residence in the Grasswood neighbourhood of Corman Park. Police attended and found that a resident of the area was having a party and that there were more than ten people in attendance, contrary to the current public health order, which bans gatherings of ten or more people. The owner was spoken to by police and he agreed to disband the gathering. The attendees were asked to leave. The property owner was cautioned. No charges were laid.
On May 31 at 12:09 a.m., Corman Park Police received a call of a disturbance at a motel near Highway 11 and Floral Road. It was reported that loud noises could be heard coming from one of the rooms and that an intoxicated male was staying in the room. Corman Park Police and members of the RCMP attended to the premises and located an intoxicated man who had been acting violently in the room. The man was told he was being evicted from his room for causing a disturbance and asked to leave voluntarily. The man, a 39-year-old of no fixed address, refused and became aggressive with police. He was arrested for causing a disturbance and a committing a breach of the peace. The man was transported to the Saskatoon RCMP Detachment where he was held in custody until sober. The investigation was turned over to the RCMP for a decision on charges.
