The following is the occurrence summary for May 4 – 11.

On May 5, at 8:48 p.m., Corman Park Police received a call of a silver car swerving in the area of Grasswood Road and Clarence Avenue in the RM of Corman Park.  Police learned that the complainant had been walking their dog in the area and had almost been struck by the vehicle. The complainant had obtained a licence plate and police investigation led to a nearby residence.

Police determined that the vehicle had been driven by a 17-year-old female, a Corman Park resident. An offence notice was issued for driving without due care and consideration for others. The charge carries a voluntary payment option of $580.

On May 6, at 4:45 p.m., Corman Park Police received a complaint of someone burning material in a barrel contrary to the fire ban that was recently enacted in the RM of Corman Park. Police received a rural land location east of Warman and attended at the residence.

Police observed a barrel in the yard of the residence that had embers left from a recently burning fire. Police obtained a witness statement from the complainant and then found the subject who had started the fire. A 52-year-old female resident of Corman Park admitted that she had been burning papers in the barrel. She was issued a bylaw ticket for starting a fire contrary to the fire ban. The voluntary payment option on the ticket is $300.

On May 7, at 9:05 p.m., Corman Park Police received a complaint of a fire burning near a residence east of Osler in the RM of Corman Park. Police attended and spoke with a man who identified himself as the 38-year-old property owner.

The man advised that he was having a fire pit and that he was not aware there was a fire ban in place. The RM bylaw requires that all persons lighting a fire are required to check the RM website before doing so. The man was issued a $300 ticket for violating the fire ban.

On May 9, at 1:25 a.m., Corman Park Police observed an eastbound vehicle on Highway 14, west of the Saskatoon city limits, in the RM of Corman Park. Police observed the vehicle swerving on the highway and proceeded to stop it. The vehicle, a Chevrolet Cobalt, was being operated by a 30-year-old man from Saskatoon and he had two children, aged 4 and 6, as passengers. The man admitted recent alcohol consumption to police and advised the children were his. Police administered a roadside breath test, which resulted in a reading of FAIL. The man was arrested and transported to Saskatoon Police Service Headquarters where he provided breath samples of 90 and 80 mgs%. The man was later released on charges of impaired driving. The vehicle was impounded, the man’s licence was suspended and the children were transported to their mother’s residence.

On May 9, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Corman Park Police observed two people travelling on ATVs on property near Township Road 364 west of Saskatoon in the RM of Corman Park. Investigation revealed that the man and woman, both Saskatoon residents, were trespassing on agricultural land and were arrested.

A subsequent search revealed that they were transporting a large quantity of stolen mail, three packages of crystal meth and a canister of bear spray. The two subjects were transported to the Martensville RCMP Detachment where they were later released on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and trespassing. They will appear in Provincial Court in Saskatoon in June in answer to the charges.
