A 42-year-old man is facing charges after Saskatoon police officers observed him in possession of a stolen vehicle on Friday night.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., May 1, a Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) patrol located a Jeep Compass at Idylwyld Drive and Stanley Place in Saskatoon.
The vehicle had been reported stolen an hour earlier. SPS patrol officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.
The SPS Air Support Unit took over primary observation as the vehicle continued to travel at high speeds toward Blaine Lake.
Stop sticks were successfully deployed south of Blaine Lake, and the driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, fled into the bush where he was taken into custody without further incident by members of the RCMP.
The 42-year-old man is charged with Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000, Evade Police, Fail to Stop, Dangerous Driving and Breach of Conditions.
