A fire ban has been implemented in the RM of Vanscoy and the RM of Montrose, effective immediately. It includes all the towns, villages and hamlets within both RMs.
Delisle Fire Chief Mike Given announced the fire ban on Monday, April 28. While there have been no fires in the RMs so far, Given said conditions are very dry and the fire ban is precautionary. He noted several fire bans are already in place in rural and urban municipalities across the province.
He noted the fire ban is being implemented later than usual because of the cold, wet weather so far this spring. The fire ban is effective until further notice.
