Longhorns fall short in season opener

The Rosthern Longhorns football team came up short in their season opener, dropping a 78-64 decision to the Wakaw Warriors on September 14, in Wakaw.
The Longhorns got off to a blazing start, scoring on their first offensive play of the game.
On the ensuing kickoff, Rosthern’s special teams stepped up and recovered the ball after a misplay by the Warriors. The Longhorns’ offence quickly found the end zone and after the convert Rosthern led 16-0. Continue reading “Longhorns fall short in season opener”

Saskatoon woman dies in rollover near Wakaw

A 44-year-old woman from Saskatoon was killed in a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 2 near Wakaw on Thursday, July 7.
The incident occurred at about 10:40 p.m, according to Sgt. Larry Kurtenbach of the Wakaw RCMP detachment.
Wakaw RCMP, Wakaw EMS, Wakaw Fire Rescue and Cudworth Fire Rescue members responded to the rollover approximately 10 kilometers south of Wakaw.
The lone 44-year-old female driver from Saskatoon was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the driver is not being released at this time.
Wakaw RCMP continue to investigate.
