Marty Baroni looked right at home during the Warman City Council meeting on Monday, March 25.
The new Warman City Manager stepped into his new role on March 20, a few days after former City Manager Bob Smith formally retired.
“I’m excited to be here and take on this new responsibility,” said Baroni. “Warman is a remarkable community that is forward-thinking and strategically focused. I look forward to working with the Mayor and Council, and all our staff to continue to provide exceptional levels of service and achieve the priorities for the community.”
Baroni was appointed Warman City Manager in mid-January following a competitive recruitment process. He brings several years of experience in municipal government to the table, including four years as a municipal councillor in the Town of Kerrobert from 2006 to 2010. He also served as Assistant Administrator in Kerrobert before taking on the role of Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Biggar for the last 12 years.
Warman Mayor Gary Philipchuk officially welcomed Baroni at the March 25 council meeting. In a statement issued earlier this year announcing Baroni’s appointment, Philipchuk said: “Marty’s innovative ideas and municipal management experience will be a great fit for the City of Warman’s present and future. We look forward to him joining and leading this passionate, dedicated team at the City of Warman.”
