Pair arrested after evading police

Saskatoon Police assisted RCMP members in the apprehension of two people who attempted to evade police during the early morning hours of Monday, June 10.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., June 10, 2019, Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) patrol members observed a stolen GMC Sierra bearing the incorrect licence plate.

The SPS Air Support Unit (ASU) located the suspect vehicle and tracked it south of the city.

A traffic stop was attempted by a SPS patrol member but the vehicle refused to stop for police. The ASU observed the suspect stop in various acreages/farmyards in search of fuel.

They also observed item being thrown out the window of the suspect vehicle.

An RCMP unit was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device on Meridian Road.

The officer conducted a high-risk vehicle stop in a nearby yard and arrested the two occupants of the vehicle.

A 34-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, both from St. Benedict, SK, were taken into RCMP custody.
