Stanley Mission man charged with second degree murder

A man from Stanley Mission has been charged with second degree murder in the death of a 29-year-old man from the same community.

On April 15, 2019, Stanley Mission RCMP received a complaint of an injured male at a residence in Stanley Mission. When RCMP officers arrived on the scene, they located a deceased 29-year-old male.  The deceased male has been identified as Robert Phillip McKenzie, a resident of Stanley Mission.

Investigators have determined there was an altercation that occurred in the deceased’s residence. During the altercation the deceased was fatally injured.  The suspect fled the scene and was arrested without incident the evening of April 15, 2019 at the suspect’s residence in Stanley Mission.

As a result of the investigation, Darcy Patrick Charles (DOB: 1980-09-25) of Stanley Mission has been charged with second degree murder. Darcy Charles made his first court appearance in La Ronge Provincial Court on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
