Early this morning, a 31-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving and issued a speeding ticket for over $1,000.
At approximately 12:05 a.m., April 11, 2019, Saskatoon Police Patrol officers observed a black Jeep travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Idylwyld Drive approaching 20th Street Westin Saskatoon. They also observed the vehicle disobey a red light. Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the motorist accelerated as it continued southbound over the Sid Buckwold Bridge. Shortly after passing the 8th Street Exit, the vehicle came to a stop and the driver was arrested for an impaired driving investigation.
The 31-year-old Saskatoon man is facing charges of Impaired Driving and Exceed .08. He was also issued a $230 ticket for disobeying a red light, and a $1,022 ticket for exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/hr.
