Firefighters from Martensville were able to extinguish a stubborn brush fire on an acreage south of Township Road 392 (Powerline Road) between Highway 12 and Range Road 3053 (Rock Ridge Road).
The call came in about 1:45 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
Martensville Fire Department responded with a pumper and attack truck. Warman Fire Rescue was called in shortly afterward to provide mutual aid. Water pumpers were filled at a hydrant at the north end of Martensville.
The area where the fire was located has many small acreages, with clumps of dry bushes and dry grass cover. The strong northwesterly winds caused the fire to jump from one clump of trees to another. Firefighters worked to ensure the buildings were safe.
There are no reported injuries, and no damage to any homes.
There is no estimate at this time on the amount of damage to small structures.
Warman was called away from this scene about 3:25 p.m. to attend to a grass fire at Cathedral Bluffs.
Martensville Fire Department declared the fire under control at 3:45 p.m. Crews remained on scene for some time afterward to mop up hot spots and prevent flare-ups.
