Garage fire contained quickly

Warman fighters quickly extinguish a fire to a detached garage on Feburary 7.

Warman Fire Rescue responded to a detached garage fire at 203 Canora St. West, in Warman, on February 7 around 11:30 a.m. According to Warman Fire Chief Russ Austin, the homeowner noticed a large fire burning inside the garage with heavy smoke. After opening the overhead door, the homeowner threw snow on the fire until Warman Fire Rescue arrived on scene.
The firefighters were able to contain the fire very quickly.
There was no significant structure damage to the building, but structure and contents were heavily smoke damaged, according to Austin. The damage is estimated at $5,000.
Neighbouring houses and other buildings were not damaged. There were no injuries and though the cause of the fire is undetermined, it is not suspicious but still under investigation.
