Man arrested on weapons charges

A Saskatoon man was arrested early this morning after Police located numerous dangerous weapons inside of a truck.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., February 5, 2019, Patrol members observed a suspicious grey 1991 GMC 1500 with heavy damage to it, turn North on Idylwyld Drive from Stanley Place. A traffic stop was conducted in the intersection of Avenue C North and 36th Street West. As officers began speaking with the male driver and lone occupant of the truck, they observed a hand gun on the passenger’s seat. The driver was arrested and officers conducted a search of the vehicle. The gun on the seat was identified as an imitation handgun. Also located inside of the truck was a .22 calibre rifle, ammunition, a knife, break and enter tools and other homemade weapons.

A 40-year-old Saskatoon man is facing 14 weapons/firearm related charges.
