Traffic slowed to a crawl due to vehicle fire on Highway 11

Warman Fire Rescue worked to knock down a car fire Tuesday afternoon on Highway 11 south of Warman

Commuters northbound on Highway 11 had their trip home take a bit longer than usual thanks to a vehicle fire on Highway 11 south of Warman.

Warman Fire Rescue received the call at about 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon, November 6, that a car was ablaze on the shoulder of the northbound lanes across from the Richardson Pioneer elevator. When firefighters arrived they found the car completely engulfed in flames. Two units responded and were quickly able to bring the fire under control and cleared the scene just under an hour later.

The northbound lanes of Highway 11 were briefly closed while firefighters tackled the blaze but one lane was opened a few minutes later and the backlog of traffic stretching to Wanuskewin Road began to slowly move again.

The were no injuries to the two occupants of the car and police continue to investigate.
