Driver stopped for speeding, now faces drug, alcohol charges

A 26-year-old man is facing drug-related charges after he was found to be speeding yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., August 8, 2018, members of the SPS Traffic Unit were conducting a speed enforcement project in the area of College Drive and McKercher Drive when they observed a truck travelling in excess of the posted speed limit. The driver was directed to pull over. When Officers approached the vehicle, they observed a case of open alcohol as well as marihuana plants in the passenger side footwell.

The 26-year-old man from North Battleford is charged with Possession of Marihuana and was issued a ticket for speeding. He also faces a three-day roadside suspension and vehicle impoundment for having a blood alcohol content that exceeded .04.
