Saskatoon Tigers capture Women’s Senior C fastball crown

The Saskatoon Tigers won the 2017 Saskatchewan Women’s Senior C Fastball Championship on Sunday, July 30 in Warman

The Saskatoon Tigers rolled undefeated through a three-day tournament in Warman to capture the provincial Women’s Senior C fastball championship last weekend.
But it wasn’t easy.
The Tigers faced their toughest challenge in the semi-final on Sunday, July 30, when they squared off against the defending 2016 champions, the Saskatoon Grizzlies. With the game tied 2-2, the Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on to punch their ticket to the final.
The Tigers went on to cruise to a 6-0 win over the Saskatoon Connextion in the championship game.
“The girls played well,” said Tigers coach James Southam. “They seemed to get better every game. It was nice to watch, and I’m very proud of them.
“The toughest contest was definitely the semi-final against the Grizzlies. We had our best defensive game of the season against them, and if we hadn’t done that we would have lost for sure. Give the Grizzlies credit, they’re a good team.” Continue reading “Saskatoon Tigers capture Women’s Senior C fastball crown”
