Saskatoon Police arrested two people today believed to be responsible for an armed robbery on Friday.
At approximately 5:50 p.m., April 13, 2018, Patrol officers were dispatched to a business in the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North for a report of an armed robbery. The suspect had fled in a grey Chevrolet Impala prior to Police arrival. Officers learned that the Loss Prevention Officer (LPO), of the business observed a man and a woman steal numerous items from the store. The LPO confronted the suspects in their vehicle, where the male suspect pointed a firearm at the LPO before fleeing the scene.
At approximately 12:20 p.m., April 16, 2018, a Traffic officer observed a vehicle with a very damaged windshield. It was later confirmed that this was the suspect vehicle from the earlier armed robbery. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue North. Through further investigation, it was confirmed that the man driving this vehicle, along with the female passenger, were the suspects from the armed robbery.
They were taken into custody without incident. No firearm was found during the arrests but a machete was located inside of the car. The car was also found to have been stolen.
A 28-year-old Spiritwood man is charged with Robbery and Possession of Stolen Property.
A 22-year-old woman is charged with Theft Under $5000.
A 17-year-old girl was also located in the vehicle and arrested on outstanding warrants. She was later released.
