French Immersion coming to Traditions Elementary School

Prairie Spirit School Division Education Director Lori Jeschke

French Immersion will be offered for Kindergarten and Grade 1 students in Warman this fall at Traditions Elementary School.
The decision to offer French Immersion was made following a strong response from parents with student registrations for the program.
The Prairie Spirit School Division (PSSD) invited parent feedback about the program with a survey in December and provided more information at a parent meeting in January.
This is the first French Immersion program in Prairie Spirit School Division,” said Lori Jeschke, Director of Education. “We are excited to begin the French Immersion journey with our students and their families.”
The Division plans to build the program by adding a grade each year, up to Grade 8. The curriculum is parallel to the English curriculum, with all instruction in French. Students will have access to supports as they would in the English program. The school will be adding French resources and signage for the program.
Families enrolled in the program will be receiving more information in the coming weeks.
