Attempted vehicle theft thwarted

A man is in custody following an attempted vehicle theft this morning in Saskatoon.
At approximately 8:15 a.m., a resident in the 1700 block of Coy Avenue reported that while they were starting their vehicle to let it warm up an unknown male approached and attempted to steal the vehicle.
When the vehicle owner sought help from a family member the suspect threatened the two, saying he had a firearm.  He then attempted to drive away but the vehicle stalled.
He was attempting to steal another vehicle when Saskatoon Police officers arrived. A short foot chase ensued before the man was brought into custody. He was found to be in possession of a sawed off .22 calibre rifle.  
No one was injured during the incident. The suspect is now facing a number of charges.
